What's in USDA's chole
USDA doesn't list a chole recipe. The closest record is chickpeas boiled from dried and cooked with vegetable oil (7%), without the masala gravy.
Per 100 g it also has 7.1 g of fiber.
What changes the number at home
- The masala in chole often uses more oil than a dal does, and restaurant chole more again. Each teaspoon of oil adds about 41 kcal.
- Chole bhature is mostly about the bhatura, which is deep-fried. Log it as a separate item.
- A gravy-heavy bowl has fewer chickpeas in it, so fewer calories than a dry, thick one.
How NutriPixel logs chole
Photograph your plate and NutriPixel lists chole as its own item, counted by the bowl, with fractions for a half bowl. Adjust the portion before you log it, or type it, like 1 bowl chole
.
