Where Lose It! is better

  • The food database. Lose It! Basic includes search across more than 50 million foods. NutriPixel has no searchable database; it estimates from your photo or description, or uses the label for barcode scans.
  • iPhone. Lose It! is on iPhone and Android. NutriPixel is Android-only for now.
  • Custom goals in Premium. Lose It! Premium adds custom goals such as water, sleep and nutrient targets, and future meal logging.
  • A long track record, with a large community. NutriPixel is new.

Where NutriPixel is different

  • Photo logging on the free plan. Snap a meal and get each food with its portion and macros. See the AI calorie counter.
  • Free voice logging. Tap the mic and say what you ate. Lose It! lists voice logging as Premium; on NutriPixel it's free and unlimited.
  • Unlimited free barcode scans, with a simple health rating. See the barcode scanner.
  • Activity from Health Connect on the free plan: steps, active calories and workouts, set against your meals. See Health Connect.
  • Indian home food handled piece by piece and bowl by bowl. See the Indian food calorie counter.
  • No ads on any plan.

Who should switch, and who shouldn't

NutriPixel is likely a better fit if you use Lose It! Basic and want barcode or photo logging without paying, you want your phone's step and workout data counted for free, or you'd rather not see ads.

Stay with Lose It! if you search its database for most of your food, you're on an iPhone, or you already have Premium or Lifetime and use its extra goals.

Switching from Lose It!

Set up NutriPixel with your age, height, weight, activity level and goal and it works out your targets; set your Lose It! numbers instead if you prefer them. NutriPixel can't import Lose It! history, so keep your old account if you want to look back at it.
