What's in USDA's ghee
Ghee is clarified butter: almost pure fat. USDA's tablespoon weighs 14 g.
What changes the number at home
- Ghee is the single biggest reason two home-cooked versions of the same dish come out differently.
- A teaspoon in the dal, one on the roti and one in the rice adds up to about 123 kcal, which is easy to miss.
- A photo can't see ghee that's mixed in. When a dish was clearly rich, nudge the portion up before logging.
How NutriPixel logs ghee
A photo can show ghee on top of a roti or a dal, but not ghee that's cooked in. If you know you added some, type it as its own item, like 1 tsp ghee
, so it isn't missed.
