What's in USDA's paratha
USDA's value is based on a commercially made, frozen whole-wheat paratha: a plain, layered flatbread, not a stuffed one.
Per 100 g it also has 9.6 g of fiber.
What changes the number at home
- Parathas are cooked in oil or ghee, so the amount on the tawa decides most of the difference between one paratha and the next. Each extra teaspoon of ghee adds about 41 kcal.
- Stuffed parathas (aloo, gobi, paneer) weigh more and carry the filling's calories on top of the dough's.
- Butter on top is extra too. It's easy to forget when logging.
How NutriPixel logs paratha
Photograph your plate and NutriPixel counts each paratha separately, half pieces included, with calories, protein, carbs and fat for each. Change the count or the size before you log it, or skip the photo and type it, like 2 parathas
.
